In Logic We Trust
sys:logic is a research project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research that aims to familiarize young people looking for training with micro- and nanotechnology. In the game, players repair and control machines by building circuits with a variety of logic blocks. Over time, they have to manage a large network of connected devices, reminiscient of today’s digitally networked world. I joined the project as an intern and kept working on it until the official release.

What I Worked On
In sys:logic, I focused heavily on improving the user experience by overhauling the UI, shortening texts, adding feedback and simplifying large parts of the building system. My goal was to make the core interactions so satisfying that merely playing around with the blocks was fun enough to keep new players engaged.
We also developed a version of the game that could be played with a touch screen and NFC-Figurines. My task was implementing touch-input and dual-monitor gameplay, assembling the scanner, writing the Arduino code and helping with crafting the figurines.
